With Friends I Lay

The soul sinks low
As the news comes in
She may still be away
Though hope still rises

Daydreams drift
From day to years
Mind quietly sifts
Through joys and tears
Of has been
And may become
Of dear friends
Never meeting

Yet I pray in fervor
That Truth be blunt
Of whether to persue her
Or go back on the hunt.
For my pack lay near
And welcome me home
Protecting my back
And hearing my groan.

Family awaits me
My family of friends
Ready to comfort
Ready to give
Taking me in
To be with them
I sleep peacefully
For with friends I lay.
