We're left to die, forgotten in our misery and despair. We're too different to be accepted by those we would like to know... too different to be understood. We are cast away from friendship because we do not know how to fit within the limitations of societal perspective. We are not afraid to state life as it is. We are not afraid to say how we feel. We annoy and become annoyed. We have no place, no means of the understanding by close friends, for the closest we can come is a passing transitional acquaintance. Our home is but silence, destined to remain alone.
Yet, we have hope - hope in the Lord above. For in Him we have a friend who is true. He will not leave us nor forsake us. But we must have faith:
"And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance, (4) and perseverance, proven character, and proven character, hope; (5) and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." (Romans 5:3-5 NASB)
"For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? (25) But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it." (Romans 8:24-25 NASB)
"rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer," (Romans 12:12 NASB)
"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13 NASB)
"Or is He speaking altogether for our sake? Yes, for our sake it was written, because the plowman ought to plow in hope, and the thresher to thresh in hope of sharing the crops." (1 Corinthians 9:10 NASB)
"who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us," (2 Corinthians 1:10 NASB)
"Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech," (2 Corinthians 3:12 NASB)
"because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel (6) which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth;" (Colossians 1:5-6 NASB)
"But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. (9) For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, (10) who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him." (1 Thessalonians 5:8-10 NASB)
"For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers." (1 Timothy 4:10 NASB)
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;" (Hebrews 10:23 NASB)
"Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 1:13 NASB)
